EPF Registration
The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is a social security scheme in India that aims to provide financial security to employees during their retirement. It is managed by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
Eligibility for EPF Registration:
For Employees:
- Any salaried employee working in an organization with 20 or more employees is generally eligible and often mandated to become a member of the EPF scheme.
- Employees earning a basic salary (including dearness allowance) of up to ₹15,000 per month at the time of joining are usually required to join.
- Employees earning more than ₹15,000 per month can also become members with the consent of their employer and the Assistant PF Commissioner.
- Even organizations with fewer than 20 employees can opt for voluntary registration under the EPF scheme.
- There is no age limit for joining the EPF scheme.
For Employers:
- It is mandatory for employers to register under the EPF scheme if their organization has 20 or more employees.
- Employers with fewer than 20 employees can also choose to register voluntarily.
EPF Registration Process for Employers (Online):
The EPF registration process for employers is primarily online through the Unified Shram Suvidha Portal (USSP): https://registration.shramsuvidha.gov.in/user/register
Here's a general step-by-step guide:
- Visit the EPFO Website: Go to the EPFO website (www.epfindia.gov.in) and click on the 'Establishment Registration' button. This will redirect you to the USSP.
- Sign Up on USSP: On the USSP portal, click on the 'Sign Up' button to create a new account. Fill in the required details like name, email, mobile number, and verification code.
- Log in to USSP: After creating an account, log in to the USSP and select the 'Registration For EPFO-ESIC' option. Then, click on 'Apply for New Registration' and choose 'Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952'.
